Research Ideas and Concepts

Research Ideas and Concepts

So,  I need to look at some arists and technices they use to create there ideas so that it could help me in the same way it helped them, so this is what i came up with.
Well, frist I had a look at one of my favotie games 'The world ends with you', I thought the art style in this game was very interesting as it was in a sort of a graffic art style but still have aspects of manga in them. I found out that the creation team consists of Tatsuya Kando (director), Tomohiro Hasegawa (co-director), Takeshi Arakawa (planning director), and Tetsuya Nomura and Gen Kobayashi (character desigiers). I chose to look at Tetsuya Nomura as I thought he was the only one with a clear relation to desgin because he has the pesfice job of designing the characters.

Here are the final characters of the game:

So to find out more about Tesuya and how he came up with the ideas for the charcters and how he devolped them I had a look at this biography and some artwork. I found out that the character designs were made to match the Tokyo settings, which was actually used as a foundation for  the game eventhough the game is set in the real world, Tekeshi felt he could make a fanstsy setting as long as it was somewhere users were filmier with, he also designed the outfits to match the character's personality.

Here are some concept drawings showing the slight devolpement of the charaters :

I tried to find more infomation on the conpect and how these characters were devolped or even created but I couldn't find out that much.

But I did find out that the same people who developed this game were the same people who devolved the game 'kingdom hearts' and all the kingdom heart series which would explain the similar art style, but kingdom hearts worked very closely with Disney and has taken some of the well known characters many people grew up with and in closed them in this game making the game play and story lines very different from the world ends with you.

The World end with you was heavily inspired by real locations around Tokyo, Shibuya was the main setting for the game. They wanted the game setting to be similar to the real Shibuya but still having these unique styles which fits with the game. To do so they went 'location hunting' which meant going onto rooftops of buildings without permission and taking photos of the buildings to get the right layout for the game. Most shops names were slightly changed for copright reason for example ' 109 Building' was changed to 104 Building.
